MISSION NIHONGO

Terms of Service

Effective: May 9, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Mission Nihongo, including the Mission Nihongo website and the Mission Nihongo Card app (together, the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Mission Nihongo provides Japanese language learning experiences, including online video lessons, account-based learning tools, and the Mission Nihongo Card app at app.missionnihongo.com. The card app may include digital cards, packs, quizzes, XP, streaks, rarity labels, progress tracking, and related learning features.

We may add, change, rebalance, suspend, or discontinue features when needed to improve the Service, keep it secure, or comply with legal and platform requirements.

3. Accounts

Some features require an account. You may sign in using supported authentication methods such as Google OAuth or email verification. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity that occurs through your account. You may not share, sell, transfer, or allow others to use your account.

4. Purchases, Subscriptions, and Trials

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Prices are displayed in USD unless stated otherwise. Taxes may apply depending on your location. The price and billing terms shown at checkout are the terms that apply to your purchase.

Available paid offerings may include:

  • Season 1 Early Access Pass - one-time access to video lessons.
  • Season 1 Supporter Pass - one-time access to video lessons.
  • Mission Nihongo Card monthly subscription - recurring monthly access to the card app.
  • Mission Nihongo Card yearly subscription - recurring yearly access to the card app.

If a free trial or coupon is offered, the checkout screen will show the trial length, discount, renewal price, and renewal date before you confirm payment. Unless you cancel before the trial or current billing period ends, subscriptions automatically renew at the then-disclosed recurring price. We recommend canceling at least 24 hours before the renewal date shown in your account or Stripe receipt.

You can cancel a subscription through the billing portal when available in the Service, or by contacting support@missionnihongo.com. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not automatically refund past charges.

5. Digital Cards and Game Features

Digital cards, packs, XP, streaks, rarity labels, quiz results, and similar features are part of the learning experience. They have no cash value, are not redeemable for money or physical goods, and may not be sold, traded, transferred, or exchanged outside the Service.

We may adjust card availability, rarity labels, pack behavior, XP, streaks, and similar mechanics for balancing, security, abuse prevention, technical reasons, or product updates.

6. Refund Policy

Digital content and subscription charges are non-refundable in principle once access is provided, except where required by law. Exceptions may be made for duplicate charges, payment errors, or technical issues that prevent access to the purchased Service. Please contact support@missionnihongo.com for assistance.

7. Content and Intellectual Property

All content on Mission Nihongo, including videos, characters, artwork, digital cards, text, audio, software, user interface elements, and code, is owned by Mission Nihongo or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for private, non-commercial learning purposes.

8. Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

  • Share, redistribute, resell, sublicense, or transfer access.
  • Download, record, scrape, copy, or redistribute protected content.
  • Use bots, scripts, automated traffic, scraping, or credential stuffing.
  • Bypass payment, entitlement, account, or security controls.
  • Manipulate subscriptions, digital cards, packs, XP, streaks, quizzes, or progress.
  • Reverse engineer, probe, overload, or interfere with the Service.
  • Use the Service for unlawful, abusive, or harmful purposes.

We may suspend or terminate access, remove manipulated progress, and block abnormal traffic when needed to protect learners, the Service, or payment and infrastructure providers.

9. Availability

We work to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, provider outages, security events, or circumstances beyond our control.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mission Nihongo will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid to Mission Nihongo for the affected Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms with a new effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising from these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court, unless consumer protection laws require otherwise.

13. Contact

For questions about these Terms, please contact us at support@missionnihongo.com.
